STORY TELLING: Criteria and Guidelines


The following are the guidelines and criteria we used in our "story telling event" in class. Hope this will be of great help for those who are looking for mechanics on this craft.

1. Contest piece must be original or be adapted from the original.
2. Delivery must not less than 5 minutes nor more than 7 minutes.
3. The contestant is free to use the stage and show rapport with the audience.
4. No other parts of the body must touch the floor, except the feet.
5. Appropriate costume to identify the character must be worn.
6. Criteria for judging are:
            Elements of the Story/Degree of Difficulty  (20%)
            Craftsmanship/Interpretation (40%)
            Delivery (30%)
            Over-all Impact and Rapport (10%)

POETRY INTERPRETATION: Criteria and Guidelines



The following are the criteria and guidelines we crafted for our class Poetry Interpretation Contest.

1. All pieces should be restricted to romance or ballad genres of poetry.
2. Interpreter must memorize his/her contest piece.
3. The use of props, power point presentation and background music is under the contestant's        discretion.  However, messy props and the use of fire are strictly prohibited.
4. The delivery must not be less than five (5) minutes nor more than 7 minutes.
5. Appropriate costume to identify the character should be used.
6. The judging will be based on the following: 
              Interpretation (40%), 
              Delivery (30%),                            
              Craftsmanship (20%)  
              Stage Presence (10%).
7. The decision of the judges is FINAL and irrevocable.
